“When I attended another high school, learning was flat, like a sheet of paper. It was one side of the paper or the other. At Waldorf, learning is round – like a ball you can hold in your hands and look at from many directions.”

Students Support Services foster a collaborative and “strength-based” climate in which students are able to take appropriate academic, social, artistic, and physical risks; learn from experiences; exercise new skills in self-advocacy; and collaborate with faculty to remove both real and perceived (internal and external) obstacles to success. Students develop new skills as they gather the strength and courage to try new things, learn from and, when necessary, transcend mistakes. Student Support Services offer opportunities for students to develop and exercise leadership skills and become conscientious contributing citizens to the school community and the greater world.
Student Support Services are designed to benefit each student enrolled at WHSP and to offer appropriate guidance and interventions as needed.
Academic Advisor
At the beginning of the school year, freshmen and new students are assigned a faculty/staff member to serve as an advisor. The advisor is responsible for holding the overview of student academic progress and personal growth. Students and advisors check in with each other on a regular basis.
Class Sponsor
The class sponsor shepherds the class for the full four-year journey, serving as an advocate and consultant to the group. Class sponsors managing field trips, fundraising for the senior trip, the social well-being of the class, communication with parents, class social activities like movie nights, helping to conduct class meetings and class parent meetings, and planning graduation.
